(11 January 2021, Hong Kong) HKKF was informed by the Centre of Health Protection of Health Department that three staff were tested preliminary positive for COVID-19, including a Pier Assistant and two Wheelhouse Assistants.
The three crew members tested preliminary positive yesterday, 10 Jan, are confirmed positive today. HKKF continues to enhance its cleaning and sterilisation of the vessels and piers. HKKF will strive to maintain its scheduled service to our best.
The Pier Assistant works at the Central Pier 4 responsible for freight ticketing. She was last on duty on 10 Jan. Two Wheelhouse Assistants were last on duty on 9 Jan. They served various routes for Lamma Island, Peng Chau, Hei Ling Chau and the Three-Runway. They all wore mask while on duty and their body temperature were normal when reported to work. They did not travel outside Hong Kong recently.
In addition to the cleaning and sterilisation implemented, HKKF contracted professional cleaning company to clean and sterilise all piers, including Central Pier 4, Central Pier 6 (Western Berth), Yung Shue Wan Ferry Pier and Peng Chau Ferry Pier. All vessels will be cleaned and sterilised again shortly.
HKKF continues to redeploy the manpower and lease appropriate vessels and crews to maintain our scheduled ferry services. We will keep close contact with the Transport Department and monitor the latest development. The company will announce the latest news and adjust our services accordingly when required.
For the staff’s virus protection, all frontline staff must wear facial mask while on duty, measure body temperature when report to work, and always be cautious on personal hygiene. If any staff is unwell or has fever, they must visit the doctor immediately and take leave. The company has provided adequate protection gear to staff, such as mask, protective eyewear and gloves. Non-contact infrared body temperature measure device is provided to supervisors to monitor the body temperature of frontline staff. All staff must alert the company if they travel outside Hong Kong.
